(This is a missing scene for "Double Jeopardy")

"Welcome home SG-7, we'll debrief in one hour."

The Colonel saluted and led his team toward the door.

"Dr. Jackson, a word."

"General?"

"Harlan is here."

"Harlan? As in P3X-989 Harlan?"

"The same. Seems your counterparts didn't bury their gate and have been going off-world."

"Does Jack know?"

"SG-1 has gone to Juno to help rescue them."

"Can you start at the beginning?" Daniel asked overwhelmed.

"My office. Sergeant please inform the Infirmary that Dr.Jackson is with me and will be along shortly."

"Yes sir."

The General led Daniel to his office and poured the younger man a cup of coffee then proceeded to explain what had transpired in his absence.

Daniel sat silently for several moments taking the information in.

"I spoke to him you know."

"Who?"

"Myself... the other Daniel, after we awoke. It was so weird, he was me in every way, my memories, my feelings. Harlan must be devastated."

"He is a robot Dr.Jackson."

"They are Harlan's family sir. I'd like to see him."

"After your exam."

Daniel nodded and left the office.

Hammond shook his head amazed at the depths of his compassion.

After Janet checked and cleared him Daniel showered and went to Harlan's room.

"Comtrya."

"Hey Harlan--"

"Daniel! I am sorry, Dr. Jackson." Harlan quickly amended seeing his glasses and shorter hair.

Daniel hadn't missed the hope and his heart went out to Harlan.

"I'm sorry for your loss."

Harlan nodded.

"Jack, Sam, Teal'c... mine I mean, will help yours."

"They were not going to until General Hammond spoke of their knowledge of classified material the enemy might discover.

Colonel O'Neill did not want to go at all."

"Jack had a hard time with the whole thing."

"I asked for you, I knew you would understand... the way my Daniel did."

Daniel nodded, "since we are... were basically the same person."

"He is gone now."

"You're grieving for him."

"What is this grieving?"

Daniel tried to explain but didn't think Harlan was comprehending.

"When you think of Daniel right now what happens?"

"It is difficult to function."

"That's what happens to humans. A little different but the same idea.

That's what grief is Harlan."

"He hoped to find her."

"Who?"

"Sha're."

"Sha're... she's dead."

"I am sorry." Harlan said quietly.

They talked a bit more then came a knock on the door which Daniel answered.

"General Hammond wants to see him in the briefing room."

"I'll take him."

The SF nodded.

"Perhaps it is good news, yes?"

"Perhaps."

When they reached the briefing room SG-1 was there.

Jack gave Daniel the once over pleased to see no injuries for once!

"Comtrya. My people?"

"They didn't make it Harlan." Jack answered.

Harlan lowered his hands and nodded.

"Thank you for trying, I must return now." He said to Hammond.

"We're sorry Harlan." Sam added.

"They died as warriors in battle." Teal'c bowed to him.

"Yes, comtrya, I must go."

"I'll take you down." Jack said and Daniel went with them.

As the third chevron locked Jack touched Harlan's shoulder.

"I'm sorry I, both of us, gave you such a hard time. He wasn't so different after all."

Harlan bowed.

"Are you going to be okay?" Daniel asked.

"I... am fine." Harlan answered and turned toward the gate as the fifth chevron locked.

Daniel doubted that very much but what could they do?

"Chevron seven...locked."

The wormhole swooshed open then settled and Harlan bowed then walked into the pool of blue and disappeared, a moment later the gate closed.

"I need to shower and debrief." Jack said and Daniel nodded, the men went their separate ways.

Jack found himself walking aimlessly, none the less he turned up at Daniel's office and smirked at his feet. He heard talking and came in to find Daniel watching the debriefing after SG-1 returned.

"Whatcha doing?"

"Look at him." Daniel paused on Harlan after they told him his SG-1 was dead. "He had nothing left and we just sent him back to his isolation."

"What else could we have done?"

"I don't know... maybe send him someplace with people?"

"The powerpacks only last forty-eight hours." Jack told him.

"And there'd be no way to take his equipment along." Daniel sighed.

Jack laid a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"You think General Hammond would let us check on him?"

"I'll ask."

The klaxons went off surprising them.

'SG-1 to the gateroom.'

The men exchanged startled looks and hurried out of the office.

"It's Harlan." The General informed them all upon arrival.

The wormhole opened and a trunk landed with a thud on the ramp then it closed. SG-1 carried it onto the floor and Jack opened it and removed items.

Daniel noticed a book and picked it up and began to read it.

It was his handwriting and he realized his double kept journals as well, except these were places they, the "real" SG-1 had never been.

He saw several and a gnawing started in his gut, it grew worse upon Sam's next words.

"Oh my God!"

"Carter?"

The three men turned to her as she worked the computer in the gateroom.

"Sir, these are specs. of all the equipment on Harlan's planet!"

"Jack..." Daniel looked at him.

"Dial Harlan's planet now!" Jack ordered knowing what Daniel was thinking.

Hammond nodded and they waited several moments.

"Seventh chevron will not lock."

"Perhaps Harlan has buried his gate." Teal'c said.

Jack laid a hand on Daniel's arm and the archeologist looked at him.

They both knew the gate was gone, not simply buried but gone, as was Harlan. After two years of having "SG-1" living with him he simply could not live without them. The trunk of items said it all... Harlan was dead... but once again with his team.

"Comtrya." Daniel said softly.

"Comtrya." Jack agreed as they looked at the silent stargate.

The End
